Curious Elise

Zach had gone to a Whalers Ice Hockey game tonight and had tons of fun. He even got to go into the locker room and 16 of the players signed his poster.

The rest of us decided to go to Potbellies for dinner (great sandwiches and shakes). They often have live music and tonight there was a young guy singing and playing the guitar. He was really, really good and we all loved listening to him. Elise was so fascinated by the guitar and the singing that she wouldn't take her eyes off of him, and would even lean way over to see him if someone got in the way! Will took this picture of her with his Blackberry, you can see she's eating her chip but very, very curious! It was a relaxing dinner. Just what I needed!!

Getaway to Wheels Inn, Chatam, Ontario, Canada - 18 February 2008

Ontario, Canada had a National Family Day which corresponded with our President's Day. We decided to take a last minute excursion into Canada, and went to a place called Wheels Inn. This was an indoor playland about one hour into Canada after crossing from Detroit into Windsor, Ontario, Canada. The first picture was in a restaurant at Wheels Inn...called, you guessed it, "The Tree House restaurant". This was a very cool place actually and the tree was a very old Elm tree. The second picture is of Natalie bowling. Part of the package we found was a free game of bowling. Natalie had a blast using this contraption built for younger kids (although I must say I wanted to try it myself). The day getaway was a big success as the place had indoor miniature golf, carnival rides, ping pong, shuffleboard and a small pool. All in all, a good time, which is quite surprising given the fact that the place was out in the middle of nowhere. Very flat land and the stunning view we had outside of our hotel window was a grain silo and railroad tracks! We also got very little sleep due to the paper thin walls and the many kids jumping up and down in rooms...having a grand time during the "National Family Day"!

Valentine's Day 2008

We had a fantastic Valentine's Day this year! We started off the day with a Valentine's breakfast of big pink heart-shaped pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream. Of course, we also had Zach's favorite....sausages (not sure what was pink in those, except maybe we did not cook them long enough). Will's favorite from his childhood.....good ole fashioned Strawberry Quick was also on the menu. The kids loved their presents...each of them got a book to read and a homemade chocolate. Jennifer took cookies to Ashley's school for her class's Valentine's Day party and then Jennifer had Will go on a Treasure Hunt at the house for some nice Valentine's Day clothes (exercise clothes and a casual shirt). We then finished the day off by having a couple's massage, complete with Roses and a box of chocolates (Will's present to Jennifer), and then dinner at Andiamo's (local Italian restaurant). It was definitely a good day!

Ashley's 5th grade Concert - 11 February 2008

Hi everyone! We've been inspired by fellow family members to start a blog and become "high tech"! :) Here is a picture of Ashley during her little solo in her 5th grade concert. She was awesome and sounded great! We were very proud of her! She is growing up so fast.
